NEW MEMBER REQUIREMENTS All New Members must:
Leaves of absence may be granted at the discretion of the New Member Committee and the Board of Directors. Those failing to meet the above requirements shall be removed from new membership status by a vote of the New Member Committee with a two-thirds vote of approval by the Board of Directors. A New Member who satisfactorily completes the New Member Course in the Junior League of Greater Elmira-Corning, Inc. will be required to serve five years as an Active member before she may become a Sustaining member. If a prospective member finds that she is unable to accept League membership, she shall so notify the New Member Committee. Upon admission to active membership, a new member will be assigned to a standing committee. ACTIVE REQUIREMENTS All Active Members must:
SUSTAINER REQUIREMENTS Active members may be eligible for Sustainer status providing a minimum of five years active service has been completed. The amount of dues for the coming year will be determined by membership status as of May 31st. A candidate for sustaining membership will have voting privileges and be responsible for Active member requirements and placement service until June 30th. The Secretary shall verify with the Nominating/Placement Chair that the member has served five years as an Active member, which shall include years as an Active member in another League, or Leagues, from which she transferred. The Secretary shall report her findings to the Board, which shall grant Sustainer status if five Active years have been served. A written request for Sustainer status shall be submitted to the Secretary by March 1st. A Sustaining member may request reclassification to Active status at any time before the administrative year. A written request to be reclassified as an Active member shall be submitted by March 1st to the Secretary. Two members are appointed by the Nominating/Placement Committee to serve on the Board of Directors. A Sustainer Representative may serve on a standing committee. One Sustaining member who is serving on the Board of Directors of the Junior League of Greater Elmira-Corning, Inc. shall be granted the right to vote at Board meetings. |
